Did you misplace your eyes on purpose
for things you didn't want to know?
Hoping that it all would go away, and then it did.
At least you'd like to think so.

Sadness lingers on for some reason or another.
I know you wish that it would leave.
I'd do the same if it was really that simple,
But it isn't, so I deal with it and grieve.

Lock the box and destroy the key.
Throw the evidence away.
But, even if you melt it into non-existence,
I'm afraid it's here to stay.

Your conscience grinds away your being,
until you crumble into dust.
Crimes you honestly don't remember.
Feelings you're not sure you even trust.

I found these eyes, I think you lost them
when you threw them down the well.
I just kinda ran across them,
and you can keep them for yourself.

But, when you see the way things really are,
don't go blaming that on me.
All I've done is gone and found your sight.
I'm not responsible for all the things you see.
