This was recorded in 2008.

"Cryptic Comment" was a songfight title from 2008, and I submitted this song during the week of the fight. This song won! In some ways it felt like a hollow victory because deep down - I think I have known for a while that I was borrowing a lot of the personality for "Cryptic Comment" from a much better song called "I Don't Want You" by Brother Machine. I was obsessed with Brother Machine's "No Home in This World" at the time. Seth Gibbs was an incredible songwriter, and performer, and in my limited experience he was a really great guy. He died of cancer at the age of 36 in 2018 and he is sorely, sorely missed.
